Eve’s
Tipis Tipi
Holidays on the Isle of Wight
Experience
sleeping in a traditional tipi and cooking over an open fire in the
beautiful, peaceful countryside of the Isle of Wight. Various sizes
of tipi are available, from 10ft to accommodate one or two people, up
to 20 ft for larger families or groups. Tipis can be pitched
individually or in small ‘villages’. There are communal open
fire areas for which wood is provided and a barbecue area, both with
seating and tables.
| Inside,
the tipis are colourfully furnished and as an example, a 14ft tipi
would be equipped for two people, with double futon mattress, clothes
storage, colourful rugs, floor cushions and sheepskin style rugs, low
table and night light lanterns. A small camp stove, basic cooking
utensils, crockery and cutlery are also provided. A 20ft family
sized tipi is fitted with double futon mattress and up to 4 bedrolls.
As with the smaller tipis, furnishings, clothes storage and cooking
utensils etc. are provided. Guests are required to bring their own
bedding and towels. |

Our
site is within a conservation area between Yarmouth and Freshwater,
in the west of the Isle of Wight. A map showing where to find the
site will be provided for you with your booking confirmation. The
tipis are situated amongst a plantation of young trees, with some
open grass spaces. There is an abundance of wildlife, including barn
owls, herons, swallows, spotted woodpeckers and red squirrels. The
nearby River Yar is home to many species of water birds. With
conservation at the centre of our interests, guests are encouraged to
keep noise and environmental impact to a minimum and we do not accept
dogs. There is a cold water supply on site and chemical or composting
toilet facilities. The site is about 20 minutes cycle ride or 40
minutes walk from the ferry at Yarmouth for those wishing to leave
the car at home, but there is on site parking.
There
are many footpaths and a cycle route nearby and the beaches at
Freshwater Bay (good for rock-pooling), Totland and Colwell (both
quite sandy beaches) are a within easy reach. There are adequate
shopping facilities, post offices and a doctor’s surgery in
Freshwater village and Yarmouth, where there are also quite a few
pubs and restaurants.
As
with any outdoor activity, there is a risk of personal injury. Isle
of Wight Tipis/Eve’s Tipis can accept no liability whatsoever for
loss or damage to possessions or personal injuries sustained during
your stay. Visitors are advised to take out their own insurance and
children must be supervised at all times. Please see our full terms
and conditions on the website.
